YouTube creator Michelle Khare’s popular series “Challenge Accepted” has officially joined the ranks of television’s top honors, successfully petitioning the Television Academy to appear on the ballot for the Primetime Emmy Awards in the outstanding hosted nonfiction series category.

Look out, Tinseltown. A new action star has arrived, and her name is Michelle Khare. But you won’t find her in movie theaters—you’ll find her on YouTube.

Michelle Khare has mastered taekwondo, muscled through police academy and conquered Houdini’s deadliest trick. But now comes a different kind of challenge for the popular daredevil: proving to the Hollywood establishment that Emmy-worthy content arises from YouTube.

Early on, YouTuber Michelle Khare was forced to accept one of life’s common challenges: not getting the job. “When I was a kid, my dream job was to be a Disney Imagineer,” she wrote on Instagram in June. “I applied after college but didn’t get the job. I had no idea that rejection would take me on my own creative path to start my YouTube channel.”

This daredevil may make Emmys history as the first creator to score a Primetime Emmy nomination for their YouTube work. Khare is one of three YouTube-backed creators who self-submitted their Emmy nominations this year. While Khare is going for Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special for "Challenge Accepted," Sean Evans' "Hot Ones" is gunning for the Outstanding Talk Series category and Rhett and Link's "Good Mythical Morning" is hoping for Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama or Variety Series.
